Overview
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Mortality Review Program, ensuring effective coordination of system-wide mortality review processes that support patient safety, quality improvement, and organizational learning. This role oversees program operations, data analysis, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement across multiple hospitals and clinical units.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Mortality Review Program, ensuring consistent and timely execution of mortality review workflows across the health system.
- Manage and optimize review processes utilizing systems such as REDCap and OnBase to support data collection, tracking, and reporting.
- Partner with clinical leaders, faculty, and stakeholders to establish program priorities, align with organizational goals, and implement standardized processes.
- Coordinate and support key committees, including the Unexpected Mortality Review Committee and Morbidity & Mortality (M&M) Committees, ensuring effective agenda planning, documentation, and follow-up on action items.
- Oversee data analysis and reporting activities to identify trends, highlight improvement opportunities, and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and standardized workflows to ensure alignment with peer review and Risk Management processes.
- Lead program communications, including development of reports, educational materials, and presentations to disseminate findings and promote organizational learning.
- Collaborate with Risk Management, Quality, and clinical teams to ensure integration of mortality review findings into broader patient safety initiatives.
- Provide training and education to stakeholders on mortality review processes, tools, and expectations.
- Serve as a key liaison across departments and external partners to support program awareness, engagement, and participation.
- Supervise program staff and/or coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful program execution.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Work requires communication, analytical, and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Preferred degree in healthcare administration, public health, nursing, or related field. (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in program management, quality improvement, healthcare operations, or a related field.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting tools, and healthcare quality or patient safety initiatives preferred.
